BOARD APPOINTMENTS 

Members of DPOR regulatory boards are appointed by the Governor. (With the exception of the Board for Branch Pilots, appointed by the circuit courts in Hampton Roads, and advisory board members appointed by the DPOR Director.) The Secretary of the Commonwealth coordinates the selection process and administers an online application process for candidates.

All Virginians are encouraged to participate in the government of our Commonwealth by offering to serve on a board or by recommending qualified candidates. Please remember, all DPOR boards are public bodies and board members are subject to public and press attention. Board members must file financial disclosure statements that are available for public review.


Service on a board is voluntary and members are not paid a stipend. Board members may be reimbursed for certain eligible travel expenses. To learn more about the board appointment process or to apply, visit the Secretary of the Commonwealth's website. 

INTERNSHIPS

DPOR’s Internship Program offers a structured, supervised work experience for students in a setting that complements their educational and professional development goals. Our real-world, hands-on internships provide the opportunity to explore public-sector career paths and acquire skill sets transferable to any office environment.
