Mold Inspection and Remediation Workforce Study

Mold Inspection and Remediation Workforce Study

During the 2025 General Assembly Session, the Virginia legislature passed, and the Governor approved, HB 2195. The legislation tasks the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) with studying and publishing a report on the mold inspection and mold remediation workforce to determine whether the licensure or certification of mold inspectors and remediators would benefit the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

As part of this study, the DPOR is soliciting feedback from the general public as well as industry professionals through July 31, 2025.

  • If you are a consumer that has previously interacted with professional services to inspect, assess, or remediate mold, DPOR wants your feedback. Please visit Town Hall - Mold Professionals to share details about your experience.
  • If you are a professional working in the mold inspection and remediation industry, DPOR wants your insight. Please visit Town Hall - Mold Professionals to share your thoughts.
